NATO/US v Russia in Ukraine – a Trotskyist Analysis

The recent propaganda claims by the US and its NATO allies about an impending Russian invasion of Ukraine is widely recognized as having the potential to set off a chain of events that could have disastrous consequences for humanity. One critical issue for socialists is whether or not to recognize the right for Ukraine and Georgia to join NATO, an anti-Russian imperialist alliance. We will discuss the underlying geostrategic objectives of the US in launching this campaign as well as the evolving relationship between Russia, China and Iran. We will also outline what attitude we think the international workers’ movement should take toward this crisis.
